DIY Beeswax Wrap Blend - 1 Kg Block

$139.00
Choose Your Option

Ideal for making wraps in larger numbers, our 1 kg block of ready to use beeswax wrap blend takes out the messy measuring and blending, and lets you get right into making your wraps.Ā  Ā

Ā

This block is a blend of beeswax, damar tree resin andĀ coconut oil in the perfect ratios, - just add cotton fabric and make your wraps by your preferred method.Ā

Ā

FREE SHIPPING:Ā  Ā Your block qualifies for free shipping in New Zealand AND we'll include a free 20 x 20 cm beeswax wrap (great to help you know what texture you're aiming for)

SAVE:Ā  Purchased as our standard 120 gram blocks, 1 kg of our blend would cost $157.70 - this bulk block saves you $18.70.

Ā

We recommend melting the block in a large double boiler or a crockpot/slow cooker, and applying the melted wax to your fabric with a paint brush, and then infusing the wax by your preferred method (either iron or oven method).Ā Ā

Ā

And you know the recipe is right, because itā€™s the sameĀ recipeĀ we use on our Deeā€™s Bees ready-made wraps.Ā  Your DIY beeswax wraps will be every bit as flexible, sticky, durable and hygienic as ours.

Each of our standard 120 gram blocks will wax over half a metre of fabric, so this 1 kg block will wax over 4.3 METRES of standard cotton fabric, so you could make:

Thereā€™s enough beeswax blend inĀ a 120 gram block to cover over HALF A METREĀ of fabric, so you could make:

  • 85Ā wraps of 20 x 25 cm, or
  • 43Ā wraps of 30 x 33 cm, or
  • the exact sizes and shapes that will best suit your needs.

Our full colour printed instructions tell you all you need to know to make your wraps using your oven or an iron to infuse the blend into the fabric, plus a bunch of handy tips and care instructions.Ā  And if thereā€™s any question we missed, just pop on over to our facebook page or drop us an email and weā€™ll be happy to help.

And since they say a picture is worth a thousand words, hereā€™s a short video of Leo making a wrap using the oven method:

Ā

Ā A few more things you might want to know:

Whatā€™s in the blend?

Pure New Zealand beeswax, damar tree resin and Pacific coconut* oil.

Ā * From 6 August 2023 we've switched from jojoba oil to coconut oil.Ā  Ā We love that the coconut oil is grown in our neighbouring Pacific islands and we can help their economies, and the oil is refined right here in New Zealand.Ā  Jojoba is grown in the northern hemisphere, so switching to coconut saves a whole lot of mileage and is the greener, more sustainable option.Ā

Ā

What else do I need?

  • Pure cotton fabric of your choice
  • Baking paper
  • An oven or iron (your choice of method)
  • Scissors ā€“ pinking shears if you have them, but ordinary scissors work just fine as the wax blend will hold the fabric edge together.

Where do I get fabric from?

We have a selection of our most popular fabrics available right here on our site:Ā Pure Cotton Fabrics, and because they're the same fabrics we use, you know they'll work perfectly.

Or any fabric store should have suitable fabrics - look for pure cotton in a quilting or craft weight.Ā

Australia & Rest of World:

Ā Sadly, due to rising costs of international delivery and extended delivery delays, as of 3 November 2020 we have removed our international shipping option.Ā

We hope to resume international deliveries when the situation improves, but for now we believe this is our only option to avoid disappointment to customers.Ā  Ā

Ā

International Orders and Bee Products

Different countries have different rules around importation of natural products, and it's common for beeswax not to be allowed in order to protect the health of their local bees.Ā  We get it.Ā  After all, Kev and I (Dee) are beekeepers, first and foremost.

HOWEVER, we have very tight biosecurity and good bee health here in New Zealand, and as many of our products are a blend of beeswax, tree resin and other oils, there is no risk they will ever end up being used directly in a beehive, as a block of pure beeswax might.Ā  Ā

Therefore we've had no problem with border restrictions, and as at the date of writing this, our products have been sent without problem to Australia, the US, Canada, the UK, and a dozen other countries .Ā

Some countries may have various border or import charges - please note that you will be responsible for any such charges.Ā

Ā Ā

What about packaging?Ā  Do you use plastic?

We're committed to eliminating plastic wherever we can - the clear bags our kits are packaged in are NOT plastic.Ā  They are genuine cellophane, made from vegetable cellulose and are fully biodegradable and home compostable.Ā

And we're very happy to announce that the black courier bags we use are also NOT plastic!Ā  They are made from plants (mostly corn I believe), and are fully biodegradable, and home compostable.Ā  And, a little oddly, they smell like fresh toast, or maybe popcorn!

It's not just plastic we're about reducing though - You'll see on our naked DIY blocks you have the option to buy without packaging, and on every one of our ready-made wrap pages we encourage customers to let us know if they don't need individual packaging on the wraps.Ā

Beeswax 1kg premixed blocks for wraps

We are buying in bulk for our school Technology programme where we are grating the bees wax for wrap making. Really like having the 3 ingredients already together in one, but chopping the 1kg blocks into usable sizes is fun, but we like the economy of the bulk buy. Great service - quick delivery. I did notice that the last bar was a lot lighter in colour than the first - is this due to different batches of wax at different times of the year?

Thanks for a great product

Great Stuff!

I use the DIY beeswax wrap 1kg block and find it easy to use. Just hack off as much as I need each time, melt it in a double boiler, brush on my fabric and bake.
