By popular demand, we're making a limited amount of our beeswax available. This is New Zealand beeswax with no additives, and comes from virgin cappings wax harvested during honey extraction.
This 1 kilogram block of beeswax is unrefined - well, lightly refined, really.
I've put the wax through one melt and filtration, and settled over water, which means that residual honey and any larger particles, bee parts, etc, will have been removed.
This means you may wish to carry out further cleaning of the wax depending on your intended use.
Of course, if you're wanting to make beeswax food wraps, we strongly suggest you use our pre-blended DIY blocks, which already contain exactly the right mix of beeswax, damar tree resin and jojoba oil
Tip: Beeswax has a melting point of 61 - 65 degrees celsius. To get the best out of our beeswax, do not use more heat than is necessary, and heat only for as long as is required. Use a double boiler to avoid hot spots - excessive heating temperatures or duration can darken beeswax and damage its scent.
Gently refined using only water, heat and filtration, our beeswax retains its natural golden colour and delicious honey scent.
Colour will vary, just as it naturally does in the hive, but will be in the yellow range (ie, not brown or white)
PLEASE NOTE: This product is available ONLY to New Zealand shipping addresses. While most countries do allow imports of pure New Zealand beeswax and we have some of the highest biosecurity standards in the world to support that, we feel that beeswax in its pure form is best bought from local sources to protect bee health. So we're putting our money where our mouth is and we will not export our pure beeswax. Our beeswax blended products, of course, have no chance of ever ending up being used in a beehive and can be sent freely worldwide.
